Blayze Group at the JLL Property Triathlon!

The Blayze Group Team are fresh off our Duathlon and Triathlon challenges! The JLL Property Triathlon is renowned in the Property industry; it has raised an astounding £1.8m for charity over its time, and it prides itself on encouraging “people of different ages and abilities to come together and compete side-by-side.”

Last Friday, we laced up our running shoes, pumped up our bike tyres and slapped on our swimming hats (some of which hadn’t been seen since our PE days), and headed to Dorney Lake, Windsor. Our team competed in both the triathlon (750m swim, 21.2km bike & 5km run), and the duathlon (5km run, 21.2km bike & 2.5km run), and although we did briefly eye up the Fancy Dress category, we thought we’d save that till next year!

Blayze had been training for the past few weeks (some more vigorously than others!) with the pace notably stepping up at Tuesday running club, and although Friday saw temperatures approaching 30°C, all our team persisted and finished! A huge congratulations to all those who took part and contributed to the incredible amount raised: over £200,000 for Crisis UK.

Out of the Blayze Group representatives, Guy Hutchison (Senior Consultant within General Practice) stole first place, coming in at 01:28:57; “Eight of Blayze Group’s athletes undertook either the JLL duathlon and triathlon in extreme heat at Eton Downey Lake which is such a beautiful setting. Massive congratulations to everyone as it was the first time doing something like this for a lot of us. It was definitely a challenge in the heat, I was almost jealous of those taking a dip in the lake! It was a fantastic day out of the office networking with the industry and fundraising for Crisis UK which is such a worthwhile cause..” Guy was closely followed by Cameron Fairweather (Consultant in Contract Recruitment) and our Managing Director, Harvey Gretton.

Hayleigh, our Talent Acquisition & Training Manager, commented that “it was a big physical challenge, but nothing beats having the Blayze Group Team together in the sunshine all working towards the same goal! JLL did a fantastic job organising the day, and I’m thrilled to have played my part in fundraising for such a worthy cause as Crisis UK.”

It’s no secret that sporting events, like the Property Triathlon, foster teamwork in a working environment; as many as 80% of your company employees believe that the workplace could use sport as a tool to boost performance, as well as improve concentration levels, encourage friendships to blossom between employees, and even encourage staff to demonstrate new skills.

Events like the JLL Property Triathlon remind us why sporting events are vital to the employees of the Property & Construction industry. We are honoured to make our contribution in our annual Property 5-a-Side Tournament! On Friday 27th July, the 2018 Tournament kicks off – welcoming consultancies, developers, contractors and architects from across the industry for an afternoon of football to fundraise for our partner charity, LandAid. Grosvenor, Gardiner & Theobald, HOK, Kier Property, Glenn Howells Architects, Buro Happold, Gerald Eve, Glenny LLP and Paragon are just a few of those confirmed for Property 5-a-Side. Just a few spaces remain – visit www.property5aside.com to secure yours!
